“On the move” into a new era
Media release , Corporate
It’s no secret that Hills has been ‘on the move’ during 2010, with rebounding group earnings, a higher dividend, successful contracts won by our three main operational segments, a new name, new website and our revamped logo.
The progress continues in 2011, with the move of Hills Holdings to our new corporate head office in the Adelaide suburb of Hindmarsh – after more than 50 years at the Edwardstown site.
Like our new name and logo, the head office move is all part of installing the right image to take the expanding Hills group into the future.
As well as the change to Hills Holdings, the names of two of our main operating segments have changed and are now known as: Electronics and Communications – changed from Electronic Security and Entertainment to more accurately describe the diverse range of products and services which we deliver from this division.
Lifestyle and Sustainability – a better description than the previous Home Hardware and Eco, given the diverse nature and breadth of the businesses in this segment.
Building and Industrial – the name of this segment remains the same.
“When searching for a new head office, location was the key objective with the preference to lease on a main arterial road on the fringe of the Adelaide CBD,” Hills Holdings’ Property Manager, Peter Matushik, told the Herald.
“After an exhaustive search, we found our new Corporate home at a new complex being developed by Mossop Group Pty Ltd at 159 Port Road Hindmarsh, an inner western suburb of Adelaide,” Peter said.
“Hills will almost exclusively occupy the building and so retain its identity which can be easily lost in a multi-tenanted building.
“Hindmarsh is an old industrial area that is being rejuvenated and Hills will present a high profile in a redeveloped, vibrant commercial hub, within minutes of the CBD” he said.
The new head office will be across the road from the recently revamped Adelaide Entertainment Centre, and in proximity to the Hindmarsh Stadium. Adelaide’s just-completed new tram extension means a 10 minute tram ride to the centre of the City.
Current construction includes 5 Star Green Star status targeted by the building itself with Hills intending to make the fit-out as green as possible – an aim that will be assisted by Hills having preferred supplier status both for base building and fit-out.
Next to reception on the ground floor will be an audio visual display of the Hills Holdings suite of products, and we are also working to ensure that as many of our Group products as possible can be viewed in the display area by exposing ceiling and wall cavities.
The lease is for 10 years and we should be taking up occupancy by 1 July 2011 over an area of some 3,000 square metres.
